I got me some drums :3

Posted by ShinigamiRem Jul. 25, 2008 @ 2:38 PM EDT

So, yeah, I've had an interest in drumming ever since I performed on a STOMP-esque show at the local theater about 3 years back. Until now, I've has to sate my percussive impulses by thrashing on my desk with a pair of pencils at school.

Not anymore!

About 2 months ago (i'd have posted this sooner, but my internets kept failing), I bought an electronic drum setup, called a Yamaha DTXplorer, for around $500. It's quite spiffy. Admittedly, there are better drum sets, but the price was right and I couldn't wait. It comes with:

Snare, 3 toms, bass, hi-hat, hi-hat pedal, and 2 cymbal pads (1 crash and 1 ride)
32 preset kits (but only maybe 7 or 8 are useful for me)
Various other things you might find on an electronic drum set (metronome, some preset songs, yadda yadda.)

I've also started taking lessons from a friend of my dad's, who is a great drummer. I've also started recording drum songs on my computer with it, so watch out for some of my stuff on the Audio Portal ( :3).

What do you think? Not bad, eh?
